Lydall (Thermal and acoustical insulation)

Lydall (Thermal and acoustical insulation)

Introduction

Insul-Fab distributes a curated line of Lydall specialty insulation materials — fiberglass gasketing, thermal insulation paper, high-temperature ceramic papers, and advanced thermal/acoustical shields — engineered for demanding OEM applications across automotive, appliance, lighting, HVAC, and aerospace industries. Lydall, an Alkagen brand, is an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer with a long track record of performance in high-temperature and space-constrained environments.

The Lydall portfolio available through Insul-Fab includes the ManniGlas® glass gasketing and insulation papers, Lytherm® high-temperature ceramic papers, and Zero Clearance® thermal and acoustical shields. All products are designed for precision fabrication — offering excellent die-cutting characteristics, dimensional stability, and consistent performance across a wide range of temperatures. Insul-Fab converts these materials to customer specifications using die cutting, roll slitting, laminating, and kiss-cut tape capabilities.

Description

Data Sheet

ManniGlas® 1900
Premium grade, non-respirable glass alternative to silicone and ceramic fiber gasketing materials
ManniGlas® 2000
Non-respirable paper that offers outstanding thermal performance in a range of thermal gasket applications
Lytherm® 970
Washed, spun, high purity alumina-silica fibers formed into a highly flexible sheet
An advanced alternative to traditional thermal and acoustical metal shields

Features

  • High-temperature performance — ManniGlas products rated for continuous use up to 1100°F (593°C); Lytherm 970 rated for continuous use up to 2300°F (1260°C)
  • Non-respirable glass fiber construction — safer handling vs. traditional silicone and ceramic fiber materials
  • Non-formaldehyde-based binders across the ManniGlas line
  • UL 94V-0 rated for non-flammability (ManniGlas grades; excludes certain specialty grades)
  • Excellent die-cutting properties — suitable for intricate shapes and narrow spans
  • Outstanding dimensional stability and highly uniform surface quality
  • Superior compression resistance for gasket and seal applications
  • Low LOI (loss on ignition) to meet low smoke and odor requirements
  • Binderless grade available (Lytherm 970-LH) — 100% inorganic for applications where off-gassing cannot be tolerated
  • Thermal shock resistant with low thermal conductivity and low heat storage
  • Available in white and black (ManniGlas 1902/2002) for appearance-sensitive assemblies
  • RoHS and REACH compliant across the full line
  • ISO 9001 certified manufacturing
  • Convertible to custom widths, shapes, and laminated constructions

APPLICATIONS

Lydall insulation materials are used in a broad range of thermal management and gasketing applications:

  • High-temperature gaskets and seals — thermal gaskets for appliances, boilers, furnaces, stoves, and water heaters
  • Thermal shields — laminated with foil to create thermal shields in automotive, lighting, and HVAC assemblies
  • Space-constrained insulation — thin, flexible sheets providing maximum thermal resistance where design space is limited
  • Automotive thermal protection — heat shields, gaskets, and thermal barriers in under-hood and exhaust-adjacent components
  • Lighting fixtures — foil-laminated thermal barriers for commercial and industrial light fixtures
  • Aircraft thermal and acoustic protection — noise reduction and thermal insulation in aircraft assemblies
  • Steam trace line and pipe insulation — wrapping and protective insulation for high-temperature piping
  • Hearth products — stoves, fireplaces, and hearth inserts requiring continuous high-temperature insulation
  • PSA-coated strips and seals — slit and adhesive-coated for use as thermal break seals in OEM assemblies
  • Refractory lining and furnace applications — Lytherm 970 for kiln, furnace, and high-temperature process equipment
  • Off-gassing-sensitive assemblies — Lytherm 970-LH binderless grade for clean environments where binder volatiles cannot be introduced
