Insul-Fab Quality

Quality System

At Insul-Fab, we understand that to compete in today's competitive global marketplace, product quality is simply a necessity. Moreover, the best quality systems must be part of a top to bottom company structure and culture to be effective and lasting. To that end, we adopted the ISO 9000 system many years ago and have been integrating the systems and improving our processes ever since.

Quality Policy: "Achieving Customer Satisfaction by Meeting or Exceeding Customer Expectations and Continually Improving Business Practices"

ISO 9001 Certification

Concote utilizes Bureau Veritas (BV) as its ISO registrar and is currently certified to ISO 9001:2000. Additionally, the Insul-Fab Dallas plant has also been certified to AS9100B, indicating a commitment to quality systems above and beyond just the ISO 9000 system. Product Qualification

We understand that different companies in different markets require different product qualification methods. While one customer may need extensive testing, inspection, and certifications, another may simply request a sample for approval. We have a variety of options to meet the wide range of requests.

  • Prototypes and Samples - Usually handmade, CNC, or another non-tooled fabrication option to provide a functional sample of the product. Often useful, but not intended to fully represent a production part.
  • First Articles - Tool cut product, or otherwise representative of an actual part made by the same process that would be employed during a production run.
  • Full Dimensional Inspection - Using equipment such as Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) or surface table, a full set of dimensions for a product may be inspected and the results provided in the form of a report.
  • Process Management Plan (PMP) - A documented plan for the manufacture of the product, identifying materials used, operations performed, equipment and tooling, and inspection points.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) - Extensive inspection of critical part features over a large sample from a new production tool or process. By taking data from a significant sample size of part, the process capability can be determined and quantified.
  • Certifications - Most commonly compliance to the material specified.
  • Testing - Using methods and equipment both in-house and at accredited outside testing partners.
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) - Generally encompasses numerous elements listed above and meets specific PPAP requirements based on customer preferences.

RoHS Compliance

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". Since July 2006, this directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

With very few exceptions, the materials supplied by Insul-Fab are RoHS compliant and each product we manufacture can be certified to its compatibility, upon request.
